We got to Hanmer around 6:30 & found our place at 9 Leamington Street very easily.
It was a nice place with a newly renovated kitchen & bathroom. The rest of the place had a bachy feel to it but we all thought it was lovely. The boys especially thought they were made when they got to sleep in their sleeping bags.
On Saturday we decided to check out the pools after breakfast. It started off miserable & grey so we went without putting sun screen on. That was a mistake because Scott got very burnt & both James & I got a tan. We stayed at the pools until a late lunch time & then we gave the boys a rest after lunch. We went back to the pools after dinner & stayed until closing time at 9pm. James was fascinated at how they cover the heated pools at night.
On Sunday we went for a mountain bike ride through the forest. We did find it hard to see some of the signage & at one point it wasn't until we got to the end of one of the tracks that we found we weren't supposed to be riding along it. However we all had fun & James enjoyed the end part of it where he got to play in the Dog Creek. After lunch we went out & played some mini putt. It was 18 holes & I quite enjoyed it, although it is definitely more relaxing playing without the children in tow. James was quite good at the putting part but was very keen to just race around & look at all the other holes rather than watch the rest of us play our hole it. Brent had a lack of concentration & also didn't know from one hole to the next wether to play left handed or right handed. He seemed to perform the same with either hand. I really do think he might be ambidextrous. Brent was the person who asked to play mini putt but in actaul fact after hole 3 he was wanting to give up. We made him "play the game" but I don't think he is going to suggest it for a while now.
On Monday we decided to go geocaching. I wanted to go to Loch Katrine, so we headed towards Lake Taylor. On the way there we came across the tiny place of Medbury & because the boys were supposed to be at Medbury on Monday I had to have photographic proof that they were, admittedly they were a few 100 km north of the one they were supposed to be at.
We drove to Lake Taylor & stopped there for a bite to eat. While we were there a Fisheries officer came to the lake & said that we really shouldn't drive to the loch unless we had a higher clearance 4WD. Luckily it was a beautiful sunny day & there were boats on the lake. James was in his element & he loved it. He was very happy puddling in the lake & watching all the boats. We ended up having lunch there & left at about 2pm to find some more caches.
In the end we actually found 5 caches around the Hanmer area, including a multi cache that required a walk up Conical Hill. That night we went to the pools because my knee was very saw from all the exercise in the past few days.
Tuesday we packed up & left. We went & bought me a swim costume as I had noticed that my other one had almost perished across the bust. Certainly wouldn't have been a good look at the pool. We came home via Sefton & took a photo at Criglington's Road.
It was a wonderful break & the boys loved it.
