This has been a bit of a tear jerker of layout. Luckily it is all digital & really all I had to do was put in the date & the photo. Really it is quite the typical photo of Brent wanting to be cuddled & who better than Nana.

Tuesday was Scott's & my 13th wedding anniversary, so I made this layout with that in mind. These photos are actually from our cruise a couple of years ago (I can't believe it was 2 years ago now).

Lego Love

There's some really neat scrapbook paper around & here's one I found a while ago which feels like Lego. It has raised bumps all over it just like Lego does. So what else better to scrap on it than a layout about Lego.

LOAD 30 - Pruning

Here is my second last layout for the month. I can't believe I have actaully done 31 layouts this month. I have a backup one just in case I can't complete a layout before heading off to Invercargill.

This layout is a digi layout created for Jessica Sprague's Now We Are Rockin' class. This is the fastest I have ever scrapped photos because all these photos were taken this morning. The cute thing that James said this morning just tickled my fancy.

The journalling reads:

January 30th 2008

James was in the bath for a hairwash.

He asked if he could stay in until lunchtime.

Of course you can James.

It didn't take long until a little voice called out

"My foot's pruning, can I get out now?"

Here's my layout for today. I liked the idea in Simple Scrapbooks magazine of choosing a day & taking photos for the day. I have chosen the 8th day of the month. The journalling tag really inspired this layout though, because how easy is it just to fill in the times with what you did. So this was our day on Jan 08 2008.

The Christchurch Arts Festival is underway. Part of it is a display in Cathedral Square. The big poppy like flower is actually an inflatable peice of art.

This was James' christmas decoration in 2006.

The journalling reads:

Your decoration this year was Neptune in a sailing ship. It seemed very appropriate for you given your love of boats.

James in his waterbaby swimming class back in 2002 & 2003 is the layout for yesterday. This layout is created from a sketch by Lara Moss.

Here's yesterday's layout. It is actually a backup layout that I have had sitting here just in case I get a day like yesterday when nothing gets done.

This is one of the pro photos of Brent that we had taken in 2004.

This simple layout is about the time when Bruce took James to drive in the digger.

LOAD 23- Rose

This is today's layout. I am doing Jessica Sprague's Now we're Rocking digital scrapbooking class & this is the end result of lesson 1. The photo is supposed to be sepia with the colour on the rose. I think I need to do some more owrk on changing photos to sepia because this doesn't look as creamy brown as I thought it would.

It was the first day of the school holidays & you were pleased just to be at home on a Wednesday. You went out into the garden & decided to pick a rose. You brought it in to me but the stem was too short so I couldn’t put it in a vase. You picked another rose but its petals had fallen off by the time it came inside. You then picked another rose & asked “will this one do mum?”
Yes that one will do. A beautiful yellow rose on a nice long stem.

The inside of that heart shaped journalling box had what I think is a stylised angel in it. As soon as I saw that & the musical notes I knew which event I wanted to scrap.

Here's the next layout. There is a book of me challenge happening at http://www.clubscrapchat.com This is my layout about my name. Really it is more about my feelings about my name.

The journalling reads:
Here I am at 9 weeks old in a family christening gown.
I was christianed & baptised KATRINA JANE FRANCIS
My mother wanted to call me Kirsten, but my father said that Kirsten's have blonde hair & there was no way I was going to have blonde hair, so there was no way i was going to be called Kirsten.

I never really liked my name. I was the only person in any of my schools with the name & really I am not a person who likes to stand out from the crowd. I didn't like the way my name sounded either, with the very hard kuh sound. i was always asked how to spell my name, is it with a K or a C & even then people got it wrong putting an O or an E into it.

It wasn't until I went to Russia that I ended up liking my name. Katherine the Great was a huge influence there & the Katherine isn't spelt the same way as we spell it. It was spelt more like my name & the people said my name so nicely. Then I worked with a woman who was Maori & she told me my name is a Maori name & she pronounced it & it sounded beautiful. So over time I have come to love the fact that my name is a multi cultural name.

Isuppose the funniest thing is that now I have a surname that is harder to spell & it starts with a kri sound.
